Queens Park Rangers lost 2-1 against Brighton and Hove Albion tonight.

Digital Football Writer for Trinity Mirror South East, Mark Ritson, was at Loftus Road covering the game for Get West London, so how did he rate each player?

Alex Smithies - Solid, steady and did his job well. Clattered early in the second period but recovered well. Absolutely no chance with a scorching free-kick from Pocognoli. 7

James Perch - Got forward well and had a chance in the first half blocked. He can happy with his performance, he gave QPR some creativity. 7

Joel Lynch - Not much to say about the left-footer tonight. Was a satisfactory performance, taken off tactically for a striker in the second half. 6

Nedum Onuoha - Got dragged out for Murray's opener. Far too much space in the middle of QPR's defence for that goal. Apart from that, he was fairly steady. 5

Grant Hall - Good battle with Murray but lost out in the end. Can be at fault alongside Onuoha for Brighton's opener. 5

Massimo Luongo on the ball against Brighton

Massimo Luongo - Bright and energetic, as you'd expect. Tried to pull the strings but you get the feeling he's doing the job of two men at times. He needs help in there and Holloway must sign a strong midfield man to play with him this summer. 7

Ravel Morrison - Calm on the ball and passed it around well. But he didn't have any affect on the final third, unfortunately. 6

Jack Robinson - A quiet first half, needed to get on the ball a lot more. Second half was the same and he was taken off. 5

Ryan Manning - Very good first half and had an eye for goal, certainly. He continued to stand out in the second period, and he can also be happy with his performance. 7

Matt Smith heads home QPR's goal in the defeat to Brighton

Matt Smith - A towering presence as you would expect, got up for the flick-ons and held the ball up well. In the second half he got the goal he deserved with a very good header to give Rangers some hope. 7

Conor Washington - Looked up for it, was quick and a pest to the Brighton backline. But in the second half he wasted some chances, but never gave up. You have to admire his enthusiasm. 7

Substitutes

Luke Freeman - Wanted the ball at every opportunity, got some crosses in and was positive. 7

Yeni Ngbakato - No real effect and wasted a very big chance at the death. 4

Idrissa Sylla - Put himself about and gave Albion some trouble. 6
