QPR chief Tony Fernandes believes the club are in the "best position it's ever been in" after a few years of turmoil.

Fernandes, speaking to Vice Sports recently at Loftus Road, says the "real core" of the club is now back in place, having people who know and care about the Hoops passionately.

And the owner reckons QPR are back on track after a rough ride in recent years, having witnessed the team spirit and feeling in the dressing room.

"I would say the club is in its best position it's ever been in," Fernandes said.

"Now, that might sound odd being where we are in the Championship, but we have built something, maybe by luck or a little bit by chance, where all the key members of QPR are QPR legends.

"We have Les Ferdinand, Marc Bircham, Gary Penrice in our scouting and Ian Holloway, so we have a real core of QPR.

"They know what this club is all about - more than I actually do in fact - and they're building all those values back.

"I was in the dressing room at Aston Villa and there is a fantastic feeling. We have academy players, young players and everyone is wanting to play for the badge.

"That is something I have not seen for a while. We may have lost that game 1-0, but it was the first time I came out of a loss feeling 'wow', and that we're on the path and there is light at the end of the tunnel."
