QPR forward Conor Washington admits he isn't sure what to expect from their trip to Germany, but is expecting two difficult tests.

The Hoops are set to take on Union Berlin and Lokomotiv Leipzig on Saturday and Sunday respectively, but the 25-year-old says it's exactly the sort of challenge they need at this stage of pre-season.

He said: "We’re not really sure what to expect. It’ll obviously be a really good standard with both teams in the second tier of the Bundesliga, so it’ll be another hard test before coming back to play Bournemouth."

The trip to Germany is the latest chapter in what has been a demanding pre-season campaign, but Washington said the squad have loved Ian Holloway's intense training program, which has consisted heavily of fitness drills.

"I don’t mind that kind of stuff to be honest," Washington added.

"I try and keep myself in good shape anyway because It’s a really important part of football.

"When you’re playing in the Championship you need to make sure you’re at it every single game.

"It’s been really enjoyable and brought us closer as a group, although I don’t want to see another hill for a while!"
