QPR striker Conor Washington was a second half substitute for Northern Ireland as they fell to a 3-1 defeat against heavyweights Germany in World Cup Qualifying Group C.

The Former Peterborough United man came on with 21 minutes remaining and worked tirelessly, ensuring that the Germany had little time on the ball, and going close after beating a defender and clipping the crossbar with an effort.

Northern Ireland still look all but certain to secure a place in the Play-Offs, and will wrap up their qualifying campaign against Norway on Sunday.

Elsewhere Ryan Manning and Reece Grego-Cox both started for Republic of Ireland under-21s in their 0-0 draw against Norway in Dublin.

The result sees Ireland remain top of their group with three games remaining.

Meanwhile Pawel Wszolek was an unused substitute for Poland in their 6-1 thumping of Armenia.
