AKOS Buzsaky erased all his bad memories of the last time these two sides met by hitting the winner and further entrenching Watford in the Championship relegation battle.

Following their 4-1 hammering at the weekend, the Hornets were expected to come to Loftus Road with all the threatening intent of a wounded animal. However, minutes into the game it became clear they were sitting ducks.

Rangers were soon dragged into an exchange of long, hopefull balls, with Mikele Leigertwood's distribution less than sure.

Rs rode their luck with a number of offside decisions that went against Watford, Henri Lansbury, who posed the only real threat both from open play and set pieces, falling foul of the assistant's flag a handful of times early on.

With the Loftus Road faithful growing increasingly restless at their sides lack of creativity - hey presto! Up popped Buzsaky.

Former manager Jim Magilton lost his job at Watford in the 3-1 away defeat in December, following a reported row with the Hungarian.

But this time Buzsaky played a quick one two with Hogan Ephraim only for the number eight to get caught up between two defenders. The player himself got up to bury the spot-kick to keeper Scott Loach's right.

Both teams made changes between half-time and the 75-minute mark, and the game finally began to open with both teams creating chances.

Watford thought they had drawn level on nine minutes after the restart only for the referee to disallow the effort for another offside. Rangers were beginning to resemble a team safe from relegation while Watford finally started to demonstrate a desire to stay in the Championship.
