Football returns to Loftus Road this afternoon as the sport honours one of it’s greatest sons.
Ian Holloway’s men take on Premier League side AFC Bournemouth in a fixture to commemorate club legend Stan Bowles.
It’s expected to be the former-England International’s final visit to West London as his Alzheimer’s continues to deteriorate, meaning the afternoon is set to be an emotionally charged occasion.
As well as honouring Bowles, the fixture sees Ian Holloway’s final chance to assess his squad ahead of next week’s Championship opener against Reading.
Phil Spencer will be bringing you live updates of all the action from Loftus Road, on an afternoon of huge importance both on and off the pitch.

Full time
QPR 0 Bournemouth 1
QPR fall to a defeat against the Premier League side. Holloway can no doubt be encouraged by his side’s display.
Corner to QPR
Sean Goss steps out of defence well to win the ball back and force a corner. Ngbakoto swings it in and forces another, before the visitors claim a goal kick.
Five subs
QPR make five subs as Jamie Mackie, Yeni Ngbakoto, Ryan Manning, Idrissa Sylla and Ariel Borysiuk are introduced.
James Perch
Has moved into the centre of defence this half alongside Onuoha. Appears to be giving Gradel and King a little too much space to avoid being outdone for pace.
Sitting deep
QPR seem to have dropped deeper in this second half which can only invite pressure. Holloway looks determined to hold a much higher line.
One change at the break
Darnell Furlong replaces Joel Lynch for the second period. Could be a precautionary switch.
The teams are back out
Bournemouth are first out onto the pitch for the second half. QPR can be encouraged by their first half display and will be hoping to make their attacking play count in the second half.
A lap of honour for the legend
Stan Bowles is braving the rainy conditions to see the QPR fans once again. Once again he gets an outstanding reception from the Loftus Road faithful.
Half time
QPR 0 Bournemouth 1
QPR trail at the break despite dominating for large spells in the first half.
GOAL!
QPR 0 Bournemouth 1
Jordan Ibe cuts in from the right and fires past the keeper. Disappointing for the Hoops after a good first half.
Bournemouth starting to come into this now...
The Cherries starting to work their way into the game by dominating possession. QPR seem to be handling it well though.
Another chance
Conor Washington gets the ball in the penalty area and drags an effort wide of the mark. A difficult angle but should be getting those efforts on target.
Well-drilled
Assessing the system in the first 25 minutes, QPR operating with an extremely fluid 4-5-1/4-4-2/4-3-3 system. Most importantly, everybody looks to know their roles meaning they are able to switch from defence into attack with pace. A summer of hard work reaping it’s rewards!
International quality
Massimo Luongo has looked a cut above in the opening exchanges. Getting on the ball and looking to make things happen. Easily one of the best midfielders in the league on his day.
Who is the Premier League side?
Great play by Luongo and Freeman sets up Matt Smith who heads over. QPR dominating the opening stages.
Spotted
Just spotted QPR defender Steven Caulker in the crowd. Great to see him looking well and supporting the team.
Chance!
Matt Smith drags an effort wide of the mark. QPR starting the stronger of the two teams here...
Key battle
Tyrone Mings is a real presence in the Bournemouth defence. Makes sense for Matt Smith to go head to head to take him out of the game
Emotional scenes
Led out by Don Shanks and Gerry Francis, Stan Bowles laps up the applause on the field. Great to see!
Atmosphere building here...
Lots of fans are poised to get a glimpse of the main man Stan Bowles. Just under minutes to kick off here as the rain continues to pour..
An interesting selection...
At first glance it looks like it could a strong contender for Ian Holloway’s starting eleven next week.
Wszolek, Jack Robinson, Luke Freeman and Massimo Luongo have shown their qualities when introduced during preseason and deservedly get a starting spot today.
The absence of Jordan Cousins and Jake Bidwell bound to be big talking points post-match.
A few notable absentees for the vistors...
Bournemouth: Boruc, Francis, Cargill, Mings, Daniels, Ibe, Cook, Surman, Gradel, Mousset, King. Subs: Ramsdale, Simpson, Cornick, Butcher, Surrisge, Whitfield, Worthington, Harfield, Taylor.
and the subs...
QPR Subs: Matt Ingram, Darnell Furlong, Jamie Mackie, Ryan Manning, Ariel Borysiuk, Sean Goss, Idrissa Sylla, Yeni Ngbakoto, Michael Petrasso.
