HEIDAR Helguson is hoping Edwin Van der Sar postpones his retirement – so the QPR forward can score more goals against him.

The Icelander is looking forward to life back in the Premiership where he hopes to rub shoulder again with countryman Eidur Gudjohnsen – down the road at Fulham – and Manchester United’s number one.

Van der Sar has promised to retire after Sunday’s last game at home to Blackpool, but Helguson wants the Dutch keeper to hold out for one more season.

He said: "I remember the header I scored for Fulham at Old Trafford against Van der Sar in 2006. He got a hand to it – but couldn’t stop it.

"There were others too, and we’ll see if he does finally retire."

But Helguson, who also has top-flight experience from his time at Watford and Bolton, knows QPR will have to be at their very best throughout next season in order to survive.

"You’re up against the best in the world – and it’s massive, massive difference from the Championship, in just about every way you can think of," he added.
