Conor Washington concedes he’s ridden the wave of uncertainty since joining QPR in January.

By Saturday morning, the £2m forward from Peterborough had scored more international goals for Northern Ireland than Hoops in the Championship.

That said, a solitary strike would have been enough after drawing a blank in 22 stuttering attempts following his switch from Posh in the winter transfer window.

But Washington came in from the cold to sweep home for Hoops in the welcome 2-1 win at Fulham on Saturday.

Washington scored twice for Northern Ireland in the lead-up to Euro 2016, and was an inch from putting one past Poland, Arsenal and Roma loanee keeper Wojciech Szczęsny in the June finals.

“It was a bit strange to have such a good start to my international career with Northern Ireland and not getting games here (for QPR).

“It was even better to get my first goal against Fulham, and it was a great three points.
