Charlie Austin holds no grudge against Harry Kane after the Tottenham striker was picked ahead of him for the England squad.

Kane seconds after being handed his Three Lions debut in Friday night’s comprehensive 4-0 victory over Lithuania at Wembley.

QPR man Austin was unfortunate not to make it into Roy Hodgson’s plans after banging in 15 goals for the relegation-threatened R’s.

However, the former bricklayer doesn’t blame the England boss for picking the red-hot Spurs forward and hopes he can one day join him on the international scene.

Debut: Harry Kane made a goalscoring Three Lions debut on Friday

“If you look at the strikers, three picked themselves in Wayne Rooney, Daniel Sturridge and Danny Welbeck,” Austin said.

“If you don’t pick Harry Kane in the form he’s in — he has been incredible....so I didn’t expect to be picked.

“It’s every kid’s dream to be a footballer and if you can make the step into international football, even better.”

Austin’s QPR resume their battle for Premier League survival at West Bromwich Albion on Saturday.
