ROWAN Vine has been handed a trial at League Two promotion chasers Southend United with view to a possible move to Roots Hall.

The QPR striker hasn't featured for the Rs since April 2010 and wasn't included in Mark Hughes' 25-man Premier League squad.

Vine, who has spent loan spells at Hull, MK Dons, Brentford and Exeter, will play for a Shrimpers second XI against Oxford tomorrow night.
