QPR have trumped former boss Paulo Sousa at Swansea to sign Serbian World Cup international Dusko Tosic until the end of the season.
The 25-year-old left-sided defender appears at just the right time for Rs with Matt Connolly struggling on an injured ankle and the other natural left-back, Gary Borrowdale , on loan to Charlton.
Tosic comes by way of a farcical deal at Portsmouth, who signed the former Werder Bremen player outside the January window as a free agent for the FA Cup against Southampton on February 13.
But the Premier League told the stricken club they could not register any more players due to their financial situation – so withheld his registration to play in league games.
The FA originally denied Swansea the chance to sign Tosic back then because after being involved in the FA Cup game, he was registered as a Portsmouth player.
Now free, boss Neil Warnock wants to run the rule over the Serb with a view to a permanent signing, but there will be no loan deal for James Beattie .
The Stoke striker was reportedly on his way as well, but Rangers have baulked at the former England striker’s £40,000-a-week wages along with Beattie's state of fitness following a knee operation.
