ANTON Ferdinand has been allowed to rip up his QPR contract.

The 28 year-old defender (pic), who spent the second half of last season on loan at Turkish club Bursaspor is set to return there on a free transfer.

Ferdinand joined Rangers with 10 minutes to spare in the 2011 August transfer window from Sunderland, and went on to make 49 appearances in all competitions for Hoops.

But undoubtedly the younger brother of former England international Rio’s most infamous appearance involved the spat that eventually saw Chelsea’s John Terry cleared of a racial offence against Ferdiand in a civil court but later convicted and fined by the FA, after the 1-0 by Rangers over Blues in October 2011.

A QPR spokesman added: "The club would like to thank Anton for his contribution and wish him all the best for the future."
