Adel Taarabt will get a new chance to resurrect his ailing QPR career – thanks to a change of manager.

The midfielder was frozen out of Harry Redknapp’s plans. In fact, it was no secret his ex-boss was scathing about the Moroccan’s fitness and attitude, both recently and following a now infamous spat sparking three days of media frenzy in October.

Warning: Taarabt (R)

But caretaker boss Chris Ramsey, who has known Taarabt since he was 17 when both were at Tottenham, reckons it’s time to turn a new leaf.

The man, who along with Kevin Bond, takes charge against Southampton insists there’s life yet in the mercurial talent.

“If Adel’s involved he’ll put the shift in that’s required, and when a new manager comes in you try to give as clean a new slate as possible.

“He’ll be getting the same treatment as everybody else, and if he doesn’t put a shift in, he’ll know what’s required and I’m sure his talents could be utilised.

“There’s many a player like Adel that haven’t got this far.

“He’s at a crossroads in his career – and he could kick on from here, and yes, he is fit to play.”
