SHAUN Derry has warned Samba Diakite he faces a fight on his hands to regain his QPR midfield spot.

The Mali international was sent-off on his debut against Fulham last month, which kept him out of Saturday's draw with Everton.

And Derry, who was restored to the starting XI against the Toffees, is hopeful of keeping his spot in the engine room for this weekend's relegation six-pointer at Bolton.

He said: “Of course when a new player is brought in you worry about your place, but I've been looking over my shoulder my whole career, whether it be a youngster coming through the ranks or a new player being brought in.

“All I can do give my best in training and take my chance when I get it.”
