SHAUN Derry will get another boost when the midfielder walks into the Spurs dressing room on Sunday.

The palatial surrounds of sunken baths and luxury toiletries is yet another sign that after a career grafting in the lower leagues, the 33-year-old has finally made it.

“I respect football too much to speak down about places I’ve been to in the past,” he said. “But I look around now and realise the level I’ve come to – and it does give you a lift.”

Derry added: “I knew I would only be a part of the Premier League if I went up with a club who got promotion. It was only two years ago me and Clint Hill were trying to save Crystal Palace from League One.

“There’s a bond with me and Clint, and we caught each others looks in the changing room after beating Chelsea.

“He just said this beats playing at Bloomfield Road for Nottingham Forest (on loan) even if he did enjoy his time up there.”
