SHAUN Derry hopes to make his loan move to Millwall permanent.

The QPR midfielder (pic) is surplus to requirements at Loftus Road and reckoned a shift to south London is ideal – at least for half of his family.

His wife Jolene comes from a big family of Lions fans, and although Derry is only on loan for a month, he hopes he to trigger a deal with ex-Ranger Steve Lomas, now in charge at The Den.

Derry said: “It’s up to me to produce the goods. And at the end of the month, we will sit around the table and see what can be sorted out.

"I had tentative inquiries from other clubs - you just have to look at the fact that Harry Redknapp has signed two midfielders in the last fortnight alone. But I have always had a soft spot for Millwall.

“With my in-laws being fully paid up fans, at least half of my family is happy about it. Pulling on the shirt will be right up my street.

"I'm absolutely chuffed about sorting it out - and QPR have been as good as gold.”

The former Crystal Palace player, 35, has faced Millwall a few times in his 520-game career, and reckons the club could provide a lifeline to prolong his life in football.

“The atmosphere at The Den is unbelievable and I have always loved playing there,” he added.

“I’ve been involved in a few derbies there, playing for QPR and Palace and fully understand what Millwall is all about.

"I don’t want to be sticking around somewhere and not playing games.

"I want to be involved and hopefully I will get a chance to do that at Millwall.”
