QPR assistant manager Kevin Bond was left frustrated after his team’s lacklustre defeat at Nottingham Forest, writes Richard Warwick

Bond was particularly disappointed with their failure to compete at the high tempo set in the first-half and made his feelings known at full-time.

“It was disappointing, particularly in the first half when the damage was done. They got after us and stopped us from playing and we never really laid a glove on them in the first half,” said Bond.

“The second goal was a consequence of us chasing the game, so the damage was done at the start.

“It’s a test of our resolve now to respond to the setback. The players are bitterly disappointed with the result. We played well against Leicester but today we got what we deserved.”

With Charlie Austin missing from the line-up with a hamstring injury, and doubtful for the Watford game on Sunday, the Rs looked limp up-front with only the semi-fit pair of Bobby Zamora and Andy Johnson available.

The situation is likely to change in the transfer window though with Bond confident that that area of the team will be bolstered.

He said: “Harry’s going to want to bolster the team, very much up front because our lack of depth has showed. I imagine it’ll be his top priority.

“It’s obvious; we’re short of natural goal scorers. We’ve got one or two that’ll chip in here or there but we need people who are going to be out and out goal scorers.

“The manager will speak to the powers that be and see what can be done I’m sure.

“We haven’t scored enough goals and we’re aware of it. We know it and will do something about it. Thankfully our defence has been good and made up for it.”
