QPR'S search for a first home win of the season continues after they were held to a frustrating draw at Loftus Road.

Heidar Helguson put the hosts in front, only to see Chris Samba level to earn a point for the visitors.

Rangers dominated the early exchanges, but it was Blackburn who almost took the lead against the run of play when Anton Ferdinand's attempted clearance clipped his own bar.

However, the hosts broke the deadlock on 16 minutes.

Helguson's initial header was blocked on the line, but when the ball came back to the Iceland international he chipped over Paul Robinson into the far corner.

But QPR's lead lasted less than 10 minutes as Chris Samba climbed highest to head home Jason Lowe's corner.

Shaun Wright-Phillips came close to restoring Rangers' advantage soon after, only to see his drive fizz past the post, while Ferdinand cleared Junior Hoilett's effort off the line at the other end.

Boss Neil Warnock threw on Adel Taarabt just after the hour mark as they searched for a winner.

And the Moroccan missed a golden chance to earn the points when he raced clear only to skew his shot wide.

Taarabt had a late penalty appeal waved away after he fell under the challenge of Michel Salgado, while Fitz Hall headed over unchallenged.

But Blackburn should've won it in stoppage-time when Martin Olsson broke free, only to be denied by Paddy Kenny as honours ended even.

QPR: Kenny, Young, Ferdinand, Hall, Traore, Derry, Faurlin, Barton, Wright-Phillips (Smith 83), Mackie (Taarabt 64), Helguson.

Subs (not used): Murphy, Orr, Buzsaky, Puncheon, Bothroyd.
