QPR goalkeeper Alex Smithies says he is happy at Loftus Road, despite continued speculation around his long-term future at the club.

The 27-year-old was widely linked with a move to his hometown club Huddersfield Town in the Premier League over the summer, but Smithies says that he takes any rumours with a pinch of salt.

Speaking exclusively to GetWestLondon, he said: "Right now I'm happy at QPR.

"There's not many transfer windows go by where your name's not mentioned somewhere in the press. I think for most players it's fairly normal, it doesn't really affect you, especially after having signed a new contract with QPR at the back end of last season, I'm quite happy to be where I am.

"I'm enjoying myself and enjoying the fact that I can play games week-in week-out, albeit under tough competition. But knowing that competition is behind me forces me to keep some consistency and keep my standards high."
