GAVIN MAHON grabbed his second goal of pre-season in five days to secure a comfortable 2-1 victory for QPR away to Wycombe Wanderers on Tuesday evening.

Jim Magilton’s men raced out of the blocks and found themselves in front after only two minutes, when Mahon powered home a diving header from six yards following a pinpoint cross from winger Wayne Routledge.

The lead was doubled six minutes later after good work from the impressive Angelo Balanta allowed Rowan Vine to cross for Patrick Agyemang, who fired a low shot past Jamie Young from ten yards.

Rangers dominated the remainder of the first half as Wycombe struggled to cope with the creative flair of Rs’ attack, Balanta and Vine in particular looked very sharp.

However, the tempo of the game dropped significantly in the second period as Wycombe seemed intent on keeping 11 men behind the ball.

Despite Rangers having the lion share of possession, Wycombe managed to pull a goal back in the 83 rd minute, when Luke Oliver capitalised on some sloppy marking to head home an Ian Westlake free-kick.

Youngsters Josh Parker, Antonio German and Matteo Alberti were introduced late on as Magilton’s men held on to secure only their second win of pre-season.
