QPR have slapped midfielder Stephane Mbia with a fine and warned him about his future conduct after a number of tweets on his official Twitter account.

Former Marseille midfielder Mbia appeared to contact Joey Barton , who is on loan at the French outfit, to ask if he wanted to swap clubs.

The Cameroon international has denied sending the tweets, claiming his account was hacked.

However, Rangers have disciplined Mbia over the incident.

A club statement read: "The club has concluded its investigation following a series of tweets which appeared on Stephane Mbia's official Twitter account.

"Stephane has stressed to the club that he is not responsible for the Tweets. However the club is of the view that every player that has a Twitter account is ultimately responsible for what appears on it.

"As a result, Stephane has been fined and warned in relation to his future conduct.”
