IT WAS the same old story for Nedum Onuoha and QPR in the League cup – but a ‘great disappointment’ for all that to get dumped by Swindon last night.

The 2-0 defeat flew in the face of Rs’ early form, but the defender won’t be reading reports today.

Instead, the defender (pic) is itching to get back out on the training ground tomorrow.

“Some people who have been in the game a while see the same stories repeating themselves, and (the stories) will be like the MK Dons (FA) Cup match when we got knocked out,” he said.

“I won’t be reading them.

“It was great disappointment back in the changing room because at home we fancy our chances against anyone.

"Clint (Hill) made a great point that we’re really disappointed from this game, but we need to learn our lessons from it, and we can’t really dwell on it.”

Onuoha and Rs have to pick themselves for a lunchtime date with Leeds Saturday and put right the wrongs of a third League Cup defeat out of the last four at home, but insisted the Swindon reverse either side of televised Championship matches played no part in the defeat.

He explained: “That’s the sort of thing you say when you get knocked out. Out history in the competition isn’t that impressive though.

“We were very much of the pace and struggling and Swindon took advantage of that. We allowed them to play from the get-go, and I can’t really tell you why.”
