BACK in August, Clint Hill took exactly one second to outline his QPR Premiership dream – touching the ‘This is Anfield’ sign that greets players in the tunnel at Liverpool.

The 33-year-old, who spent his childhood supporting the Reds, thought his chance had gone when he got loaned out to Nottingham Forest earlier in the season.

But injuries and suspensions saw the left-back’s return in the 1-0 win over Chelsea, and even if he were to get just a few minutes in Saturday’s game – it would be ample return for dogged duty bestowed first to Tranmere, across the Mersey, and then at 14 years-worth of Championship teams.

Hill, who has started talks over a new deal at Loftus Road, said: “I’d love to fulfil that dream at Liverpool.

“Any fan will tell you it’s the same for them, but I thought my time was up at Rangers. I never wanted to leave, but that’s football. Having said that, you never know what’s next. I’m under no illusions and I know what I can do and can’t do.

“I also know I’m going to be in and out of the team, but I hope I can play a part for the rest of the season – and anything at Liverpool would be fantastic.”
