HARRY Redknapp admits Luke Young's QPR future remains in the balance as he battles to overcome a long-standing hip problem.

The former Charlton and Aston Villa full-back hasn't played a competitive game this season, with his last appearance for Rangers in the defeat to Sunderland in March 2012.

Young still has 12 months remaining on his deal at Loftus Road, but boss Redknapp is unsure whether the 33-year-old will play again.

“He wasn't fit enough this year to be in the squad,” said Redknapp. “He said he couldn't feel he could play.

“He's still here. We keep paying him every week, so I don't know what next year holds for him really.

“If he's not fit enough to play I don't know where you go with it really. Hopefully he'll be fit enough to play.”
