Armand Traore hopes paying close attention to the Dutch during the World Cup will help him become the ultimate attacking wing-back for QPR.

The former Arsenal man has been employed as both a left winger and left back during his three years at Loftus Road, but has been ordered by Rs boss Harry Redknapp to polish up the defensive side of his game.

However, with Redknapp toying with the 3-5-2 system perfected by Holland out in Brazil, Traore will still have the perfect platform from which to give rise to his attacking instincts.

Flying Dutchman: Dirk Kuyt shakes hands with coach Louis Van Gaal during the World Cup

He said: “I have still got to work on my defending, but for one year I wasn't playing at left back, so I'm getting back into it.

"I've been watching Holland and how they play, and watching their left wing backs (Daley Blind and Dirk Kuyt at various times during the World Cup) to learn a few things.”

Throw in a bit of yoga and pilates, extra gym sessions and special dietary tips from his doctor, and it is easy to see Traore is taking his second bite of the Premier League cherry with QPR very seriously indeed.

He added: “Harry (Redknapp) says I need to be extra fit, so I'm trying a few things outside the club, like doing yoga and pilates at my house, and I go with my missus to a gym near our home.

“I've been looking at players like Ryan Giggs, who always talked about yoga and said it helped his hamstrings. I'm working on my mental strength too, and every time I come out of yoga I feel chilled. It helps me a lot.

“I've also got my own doctor now, who was recommended by a few players, like Keiron Gibbs. He is changing my diet and tells me if I'm eating too many proteins. It's a long process, but I'm 24 now.”
