QPR U23 boss Paul Hall has warned exciting Rangers star Ryan Manning that the hard work starts now.

The 20-year-old Irishman has made 12 appearances for Hoops this season and scored in the 1-1 draw against Fulham.

Having established himself in the first team squad and impressed the supporters with his ability, Manning has been warned that those performances will be expected of him.

He said: “It doesn't get any easier, it gets harder. Now Ryan has got into the first team, it's where the hard work starts.

“Next year, he's not going to be the academy kid. They'll be expecting things from it.

“Once Ryan has got in, we're there to support him. It's about getting the next one in and the next one and we're greedy.”

Footballers have had a great six months and then dropped off the radar but Hall believes Manning's character will mean he avoids the pitfalls that befall young players.

He added: “That's where we develop the person and where we've made a good person. He's a robust boy and if you're robust with the philosophy we have then you have a great chance.

“He has been really robust and that's where the fact we've had an effect on him as a person we're able to see what he's like as a man. That's another part of how we've had an effect on him since he's been here.”

Hall also credited the QPR fans for backing the young midfielder and believes they lifted Manning's confidence as he looked to establish himself in the team.

He explained: “I think the supporters at QPR understand that. When they see a young lad come through and he's running around wanting to do well they'll take to them like they took to Ryan and that was the key thing for me and he was given confidence.

“He hasn't looked back. Our dream is we want the players not to look back and go and make their career.”
