JERMAINE Jenas is ready and able to face Sheffield Wednesday on day one of the Championship campaign.

The QPR midfielder (pic) has been linked with a move to Hull who apparently triggered a release clause in Jenas’s contract, but Rs boss Harry Redknapp denied it’s the reason the 30-year-old was absent from last week’s pre-season friendly against Southend.

“He had a bit of an Achilles injury, but he’s fine now,” said the manager. “Jermaine’s available for this game.”

However, new central defender Richard Dunne is still a week away from starting a match, while Adel midfielder Taarabt has barely trained since the start of the season.

Redknapp insists all those touted as sellable are also in the frame, although with the additions of Jenas and new striker Charlie Austin to the bench, the nucleus of the side that beat Southend in last week’s friendly should line up against the Owls at a sell-out Loftus Road.

Probable QPR team: 4-4-2: GK: Green, RB: Simpson, CD: Onuoha, CD: Hill, LB: Yun-Suk Young; RM: Wright-Phillips, CM: Jenas, CM: Henry, LM: Hoilett; FW: Johnson, Zamora; subs from: Murphy, Austin, Dunne, Mbia, Granero
