Harry Redknapp admits QPR will struggle to sign Niko Kranjcar on a permanent basis unless they get promoted.

The former Spurs chief pulled off a massive coup by landing the Croatian star on loan from Dynamo Kiev.

But Redknapp fears Kranjcar, who is in no rush to resolve his future, will move elsewhere unless Rangers reach the Premier League.

The Loftus Road chief said: “He’s played for me at Portsmouth, he’s played for me at Tottenham, so I’ve taken him around a few places with me!

“He’s a fantastic footballer. Last week he scored a great goal to turn the game for us. He’s a top-class player, there’s no doubt about that, and we are pleased to have him here.

“I think you would have to get into the Premier League if you wanted to keep him here, otherwise it might be difficult. If we could get up, he would be a player we would have a big interest in keeping.”
