Harry Redknapp flat-batted out of sight a move for Tottenham’s Emanuel Adebayor in the transfer window - after a proposed bid for Jermain Defoe went south this week.

The former Spurs forward joined Sunderland instead, and the QPR boss reckoned Adebayor’s £100,000-a-week wages is the same stumbling block that leaves him short of hit men.

He also insisted there was no move for Aaron Lennon, again seemingly surplus to requirements at White Hart Lane, or French striker Yann M’Vila, on loan at Inter Milan.

“All good players,” said Harry. “Jermain was a good signing for Sunderland, but too expensive for us.

“Aaron Lennon, I haven’t heard that one? And Emanuel Adebayor would be way outside our budget.”
