QPR has one of the best keepers in the world – but Julio Cesar may never play another game for the club even though he is contracted until 2016.

In fact, the man (pic) likely to keep goal for Brazil when they host the World Cup next year is unlikely to even make the bench, according to his boss.

Harry Redknapp is still mystified no-one in the transfer window came in for the 33-year-old, but has steadfastly stuck by Rob Green, and even reckons back-up Brian Murphy is ahead of Cesar in the pecking order.

“Murphy’s a good goalkeeper,” said the manager. “And besides I don’t know whether Julio wants to sit on the bench.

“His dream is to play for Brazil in the World Cup, and I don’t think that will affect his situation there.

“The manager of Brazil thinks he’s the number one, so I don’t think anything that happens at QPR is going to change that.”

Green has more than played his part in Rs unbeaten start to the season, as Redknapp confirmed.

You look at our results," he said: "1-0 Bolton; 1-0 Leeds, I can’t go and drop Rob. He’s done nothing wrong to not play.”
