Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink was swapping sleep for a video nasty in the wake of QPR’s horror show against Newcastle tonight.

Rangers were hit for six without reply by Rafa Benitez’s multi-million pound squad, equalling the worst league defeat in their 96-year history at Loftus Road.

Most managers might respond by lying down in a darkened room and pulling the covers over their head.

But former Chelsea striker Hasselbaink declared sleep beyond him and vowed to watch the video of the performance on his return home – even if it meant watching from behind the sofa.

“I might start looking at the videos tonight,” he said.

I know I’m not going to sleep so I might as well do it tonight and then tomorrow morning I may be a zombie, but we have to try to get that right.

The players will also have to watch the DVD back at some stage too before attention turns to Saturday’s game at Huddersfield, but Hasselbaink made clear there would be no equivalent of cricketers’ naughty boy nets.

Instead he is keen to keep things as normal as possible in the bid to move on.

“I’m a big believer in keeping on doing the right things, so tomorrow morning we are in as normal,” he added

“They will train as we have a recovery session and we will look at the videos.

“They are off on Thursday because that is the right thing to do for them physically, then on Friday we are back in and we get another day to prepare for Huddersfield.”
