NEIL Warnock has targeted a loan striker and defender to make sure QPR get well clear of the Championship drop zone.

The new boss got off to a sensational start with two wins out of two this week, including Rangers’ first clean sheet in 25 attempts, but still feels he is a couple of players light.

Rs beat Plymouth Argyle 2-0 on Tuesday night to go with Saturday’s 3-1 win over West Brom, but Hoops’ fifth manager of the season is ready to add to the squad.

He said: "I’m not going to rush into anything, but we’ll be looking at it over the next week or so. If someone has to go back to his club, it’ll be a tough call - but football can be a tough business."

It is understood the deals that brought strikers Marcus Bent and Tamas Priskin tie them to Rs until the end of the season, barring serious injury.

The four other loanees, Carl Ikeme, Matt Hill, Adel Taarabt, and Jay Simpson have all shown their worth over the last week - so the QPR board will almost certainly back his judgement and pay to have three loan players on the sidelines.

League rules forbid more than five players from another club in any one squad.
