QPR beat the drop by the skin of their teeth despite a dramatic defeat at Manchester City.

The hosts scored twice in stoppage-time to come from behind and clinch the Premier League title, but Rangers survived after Bolton drew at Stoke.

Pablo Zabaleta gave the hosts the lead before Djibril Cisse levelled after the break.

The visitors then had Joey Barton sent-off for a clash with Carlos Tevez, only for Jamie Mackie to head the 10 men in front.

Edin Dzeko and Sergio Aguero scored at the death to win the title for City, but it didn't matter as Rangers were safe anyway.

Mark Hughes fielded an attacking 4-4-2 formation, with Cisse partnering Bobby Zamora up front, but they spent most of the first half with 11 men behind the ball.

City dominated possession, but they failed to trouble Paddy Kenny in the QPR goal.

However, the hosts finally found the breakthrough six minutes before the break.

Zabaleta burst through the QPR backline, his shot was parried by Kenny, but the ball creeped over the line off the far post.

To make matters worse for the R's, Mark Davies and Kevin Davies scored to put Bolton 2-1 up at the Britannia, which meant Rangers would be relegated if results stayed the same.

It was almost game over at the beginning of the second half as Kenny did well to deny Aguero at his near post.

However, Rangers were back on terms when Cisse capitalised on Joleon Lescott's slip before latching onto the ball and firing past Joe Hart from 12 yards.

But QPR shot themselves in the foot 10 minutes after the break when Barton received a straight red for a clash with Tevez.

Cisse was sacrificed for Armand Traore as Hughes looked to shore up the Rangers midfield.

But the Senegal international had a major impact at the other end of the pitch as the 10 men took a shock lead.

Traore burst down the left flank before delivering a pinpoint cross for the onrushing Mackie to head brilliantly past Hart.

QPR fans were in dreamland moments later when news filtered through that Stoke had equalised against Bolton, which meant it would need a massive turnaround in results to see them relegated.

With their title hopes fading, City threw everything at QPR to find a way back.

Kenny denied Tevez and subs Dzeko and Mario Balotelli as Rangers defended for their lives.

But their brave rearguard action was breached in stoppage-time when Dzeko stooped to head home the leveller.

Aguero scored a dramatic winner 60 seconds later to seal the championship for City, but it didn't matter as Bolton failed to beat Stoke as Rangers survived by the skin of their teeth.
