Jose Mourinho says he will not be taking up Roberto Mancini's offer of a consolation meal should Galatasaray knock Chelsea out of the Champions League.

The Italian - now in charge of the Turkish side after leaving Man City at the end of last season - made his cheeky overture on the eve of the last-16 second leg, but the Chelsea boss gave a frosty response.

Blues defender Gary Cahill also said 'thanks, but no thanks' when asked if he'd take his boss' place.

“I don’t do things if I win or lose,” Mourinho said said of the meal offer.

“Some coaches used to do ‘if you win tomorrow it’s a free day’. It’s a free day when I think it’s a free day.

"In my plans after the game, I don’t have a meal with somebody that has the same job as I have and the only thing we have in common is we are football managers.”

The Blues boss says he anticipates a tough battle to reach the quarter-finals with the tie poised at 1-1 following the first leg in Istanbul.

“You look at the [first] game, one team was better in the first and another team was better in the second half. It’s balanced.

“I don’t think one of the teams is going to make a result where people know at half time who is going to win.”

And looking at the strength of Galatasaray, whose number include Wesley Schneider, who lifted the Champions League with Mourinho at Inter, the Chelsea boss said: “They have a lot of quality players.

"I think Turkish football pays a lot to the players. It looks like FFP doesn’t arrive there and there aren’t conditions to compete for certain kinds of salaries.”
