A painful week for Chelsea was capped with a costly 1-1 home draw against relegation strugglers Burnley , with a red card for powerhouse Nemanja Matic looming large over the Blues' upcoming Wembley trip.
Matic is likely to miss three matches for violent conduct, the League Cup final against Tottenham and league matches away to West Ham and home to Southampton, after shoving over Ashley Barnes in the second half.
The 14th minute lead came via a moment of brilliance from Eden Hazard – who tippy-toed around the Burnley defence, before putting across a cross from the right, for Branislav Ivanovic to side-foot in.
Ashley Barnes went into a 50-50 with Matic and the Burnley man studs-up at shin level. The connection was clear, and Matic was furious. So much so he raced up to his opponent and shoved him to the ground off the ball.
Burnley took advantage and levelled the scores nine minutes from time through Ben Mee.
