AFC Wimbledon suffered a 2-0 defeat at Shrewsbury after goalkeeper James Shea was forced off with an injury .

Jim McDonnell came on for his Dons debut but could do nothing about Liam Lawrence's strike in first-half stoppage time.

Scott Vernon doubled the lead early in the second half with a powerful header from Lawrence's corner as Wimbledon fell asleep at the back.

Dave Winfield came in for the suspended Mark Phillips as Neal Ardley was forced into naming a different centre back pairing for the fourth successive game with Mark Phillips suspended.

It leaves Wimbledon without a win in their last two games after a 0-0 draw at Burton in midweek.

There was good news for the Dons boss as Shea appeared to escape a broken nose and should be fit to face Luton next Saturday.
