Manchester City 0-1 Chelsea

Chelsea produced their most complete performance since Jose Mourinho’s return to the club as the Blues dominated Manchester City on Monday night.

Mourinho has always been the man for the big occasion and he was spot on with his team selection and tactics at the Etihad to inflict City’s first home defeat of the campaign.

John Terry, Gary Cahill, Nemanja Matic and David Luiz formed an impenetrable foursome at the heart of this victory, keeping Spanish schemer David Silva quiet.

At the other end, Willian never stopped running and Eden Hazard danced across the pitch as Chelsea controlled the game against Manuel Pellegrini’s men.

Solid serbian defender Branislav Ivanovic scored the only goal of the game before half-time, a finish even Hazard would’ve been proud of, to keep Mourinho’s side in the title hunt.

Take a look at how it all unfolded in our gallery below.

Basking in the glow of victory, skipper John Terry revealed a two-day boot camp led by Jose Mourinho's two day boot-camp had laid the foundations for Chelsea's classic away win.

The Blues were well worth their 1-0 victory and their ability to frustrate the normally free-scoring hosts and dominate proceedings was the reward for thorough preparations.

Meanwhile, Mourinho refused to redefine his team as title favourites after their stunning victory .

In fact, the Chelsea boss reiterated his view that the Blues would still be a better bet next season – in the Special One’s typical style.
