Summer signing Diego Costa made it two goals in two games as he opened his Stamford Bridge account in Chelsea’s home victory over Leicester City.

The Spanish international striker followed up his opening-day strike at Burnley with another goal on his second outing as the Blues laboured to a 2-0 win over the Foxes.

Chelsea looked sluggish in the first 45 minutes in SW6 but roared home in the second period as Costa and Belgian playmaker Eden Hazard both beat Kasper Schmeichel.

Owner Roman Abramovich applauded his team from the stands on the 11th anniversary of his first home game at the helm, which ironically came against the same opposition.

Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho said: “Everything feels good yes, but it is only two matches out of 38.

“The reality is not just that you win but that you show things, maybe not for 90 minutes and continuously, I can't expect more than that.

“We are also showing a different style of play, and we have the players to play that way, so it is good to have a certain identity.

“The players are enjoying it, obviously we need to be more intense, defensively as well, we need to pass more, attack the man with the ball more.

“We need to improve more in many details, but the basic things are there and we believe in that.”

New arrival Cesc Fabregas was impressive once again and has now assisted three goals in two Premier League appearances for the Blues.
