Leeyon Phelan's hat-trick got Bedfont Sports' promotion hopes back on track on Saturday.

His treble helped Bedfont gain revenge on promotion rivals Newham Borough for their recent win over them - in some style.

Neville Barrett, Alan Barlow and Paul Cooney were also on target as Bedfont cruised to a 6-1 victory.

Barrett opened the scoring with a quickly-taken free-kick on the half-hour before Phelan got the better of a one-on-one with the Newham keeper, but the visitors pulled one back before the break.

But after the interval it was all Bedfont, with Phelan and Barlow notching before the former completed his hat-trick from the spot.

Cooney then crowned a fine display with a cracking shot from the edge of the Newham area.

It was much the same the following day as Bedfont Sunday charged into the Middlesex Sunday Premier Cup Final once again by thrashing AFC Harrow by the same scoreline.

However, five of those goals came in a remarkable 30 minutes of extra-time following a 1-1 draw.

Mark Clarke notched Bedfont's goal in normal time, but in extra-time they went into overdrive, led by Harry Driver's 95th-minute effort and a Tommy Owens strike.

Tosie Fasinro then netted twice in six minutes in the second period before Mark Scotchford put the icing on the cake.

The Sunday A team also made the semi-finals of the Middlesex Sunday Junior Trophy after coming back from 2-0 down at half-time to win 3-2 at Hayes Alexander.
