The Posh will be feeling buoyed with new manager Grant McCann at the helm, and new signings such as former Hoop Michael Doughty set to make his home debut for his new club.

This’ll also be the first opportunity for QPR fans to see how their team is faring as they prepare for the launch of the new Championship season, which kicks off on Saturday 5 August against Reading at Loftus Road.

Reporter Phil Spencer will be in attendance to bring live updates from the ABAX Stadium, in a game with a twist, with both sides set to compete in four periods of 30 minutes each.

Paw's back!

Nearly a spectacular individual goal by Pawel Wszolek who danced round four defenders before firing wide on his weaker foot.

  • Share

Nearly a scorcher!

Some excellent play by Ilias Chair teed up Ariel Borysiuk who fired an effort just wide of the post from 30-yards. That would have been the icing on the cake for QPR this afternoon.

Goal!

Some excellent play by Reece Grego-Cox down the left sets up Charlie Owens who fires past Josh Tibbetts in goal. A sweet strike to make it 4-2 to the Hoops.

A final sub!

Ebere Eze is replaced by Ilias Chair. 23 players used by QPR this afternoon. I can’t tell you enough about the blood, sweat and tears that went into my player ratings piece which goes online at full-time!

Back under

We’re into our final 30-minute period here. Nothing like 120 minutes to shake off the close-season cobwebs!

  • Share

3/4 time!

QPR go in to the break 3-2 up. A shaky start for the Hoops but they very much grew into the half and deserve their lead with two well-taken goals. Can they see the game out for their first victory of pre-season?

QPR take the lead!

Ebere Eze takes his chance and coolly finishes to give the Hoops a 3-2 lead.

Chance

The ball drops to Ebere Eze six yards out who fires an effort at the keeper. The resulting corner was easily cleared. QPR looking for a way back into this now.

Posh take the lead

The hosts make it 2-1 as the energetic Junior Morias gets his second of the game. He ran directly at the Hoops’ defence before his deflected effort found the top corner of Matt Ingram’s net.

A high press from the hosts...

Peterborough are looking to put the Hoops under pressure by allowing them no time on the ball. An inexperienced QPR defence being forced into rash clearances allowing the Posh to control.

  • Share

And we're level!

Junior Morias steps up to convert a penalty after a foul by Darnell Furlong. Game on!

That’s 60 minutes done. Now for 22 substitutions!

Woodwork!

That man Ricky Miller, who has caused QPR allsorts of problems goes close as his effort across the face of goal clips the post on it’s way wide. Unlucky.

Pressure mounting for the Posh

A clumsy tackle from Joel Lynch leads to a free-kick in a dangerous spot. but Alex Smithies gathers the ball with ease.

  • Share

Chance!

It’s the Posh who get the first chance of the second quarter, an excellent knock-down is met by Danny Lloyd who sends his half-volley wide of the mark. They may be behind but I wouldn’t bet against them getting a goal...

We're back underway!

The second quarter is underway!

Quarter-time?

We have reached the first 30-minute break in the 120-minute match, as both teams stop for five minutes for a water-break. An encouraging start from the Hoops who look dangerous going forward. However they have been far too open in defence.

Nearly a spectacular!

Straight after returning onto the pitch, Jamie Mackie volleys the ball into the top corner of the net, only to be flagged offside. He isn’t happy! Some goal that would have been.

  • Share

Goal!

It’s Jamie Mackie! The ball came in from the flank and Ngbakoto’s header bounced off Mackie who chested the ball into the back of the net from point-blank range. 1-0 to the Hoops!

Ngbakoto looking like a real threat

QPR win the corner from a counter attack, but it’s cleared. Ngbakoto’s dead ball delivery is looking dangerous if someone can get on the end of it.

Washington goes close

Another chance for the Hoops as a clever ball from Jamie Mackie finds Conor Washington who flashes his effort wide of the mark.

  • Share

An encouraging trend

The attacking four look an early threat as Ngbakoto, Mackie and Washington working to get close to the target man Matt Smith. A promising start from the Hoops here.

  • Share

Another chance for Smith

A whipped Ngbakoto free-kick evades the defence and falls to Smith at the back post again who blazes his effort over the bar. Perhaps should have done better from seven yards out.

Penalty?

The referee says no. Ricky Miller charges at the QPR defence after Bidwell gave the ball away, and took a tumble in the box but the referee says no penalty. Correct call.

Ian Holloway’s side lining up in a 4-2-3-1 with Ngbakoto shadowing Matt Smith up top. Jamie Mackie is playing down the right while Conor Washington is floating in from the left.
