Neeskens Kebano has made it plain he is no one’s reserve - not at even for European heavyweights Paris St Germain.

The Fulham £3.8m midfielder started his career in the French capital, but admits to being frozen out by new money from Qatar that brought a host of stars, not least Zlatan Ibrahimovic and David Luiz.

So the man named after the Dutch footballing legend, departed for Charleroi, via a loan at Caen, where he was rated best player in the Jupiler Pro League by Fulham team-mate Denis Odoi.

Here's why.

However, a second move to Genk was not as successful, and Kebano jumped at the chance to join Whites at the end of last month.

He says he was made for Championship football.

“GB has always been a dream for me and it has always been the championship I watch the most on TV,” he explained.

“I have always been attracted by the league. I have always wanted to play in England and the opportunity presented itself. It is also London, a beautiful town so I did not hesitate for a long time.

“My style of play suits the English game and it is Fulham, it has a history, the oldest club in London with great players along the years and that’s why I choose Fulham.”

Kebano reckons he’s suited best to an attacking midfield slot on the left.

“I think England will suit me more than Belgium,” he added.

“There are a lot of counter attacks and rhythm and as I am a player who loves to attack it will suit me brilliantly.

“From a very young age I have always played ‘support attack’. In the young French squad I played in different positions including left wing.”

And maybe after a successful stint in SW6 a return to unfinished business at the Parc des Princes?

“When I first started at Paris St Germain I was in the pro group and I was playing regularly and then other players arrived and it became more complicated, I tried to hang in there.

“In 2013 I told myself I did not want to be someone’s replacement even if they are stars and so I decided to make my own way and to leave.

“And although I still had three years on my contract with PSG I still thought it was time for me to leave.

Going back to PSG one day? Why not? But it depends on many different things. First I want to work with my new club and a make it good here.”
