Didier Drogba has hinted he could hang up his Chelsea boots at the end of the season.

The 36-year-old Blues legend returned to the club in the summer after leaving Galatasaray.

He penned a one-year contract at Stamford Bridge.

Drogba won 10 major trophies in eight seasons before leaving the club in 2012 after scoring the winning penalty to clinch the Champions League in Munich.

Only Frank Lampard, Bobby Tabling and Kerry Dixon have scored more Chelsea goals than Drogba and he was voted the club’s greatest ever player in a poll two years ago.

Diego Costa is Jose Mourinho’s main attacking weapon these days though and Ivorian Drogba has given his clearest indication yet that this season will be his last.

Legend: Dead-eye Didier at Old Trafford

“This year the key for me is to enjoy my football and to be with my team-mates and to win trophies,” he told Chelsea TV.

"There is one more year to go so let's do it, let's win more trophies, let's make history again.

"This relationship between me and the fans goes both ways, the way they show their support and the way they love me.

“If there is some way I love them even more because of all we achieved together, all the history.

"I have always said my first eight years here were the best years of my career. I know they enjoyed it because I did.

"I'm far from all the players who made history here, but I'm also next to them."

Wants him to stay: Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich

Should Drogba decide to call it a day at the end of the season it is likely the legendary striker will be handed a coaching role with the Blues.

"Drogba will be a coach or assistant youth football team or the main ambassador of Chelsea or assistant director of sports,” Mourinho said in September.

“There will be a role for him what he wants. He is a player who Mr Abramovich wants at the club."
