Man-of-the-match Daniel O'Connell rounded off the scoring as Old Isleworthians U9s made the League Cup semi-finals on Sunday.

Although it was a comfortable 4-0 win over Walcountians in the end, it took until two minutes before half-time for Old Is to open the scoring through Luis Robinson-Ventour.

Jamie Spillard added a second five minutes after the break before Luke Fanning killed the game off with a superb left-footed shot from outside the box.

All that was left was for O'Connell, who ruled the midfield and made some superb passes, to put the icing on the cake with a fourth.

Aran Poxon could have made it 5-0 when he came on with five minutes left and hit the post.

Ani Lanni also had some great chances to score, while Archie Henley was colossal in defence and made some great tackles.

But it looks like the cup success won't end there for Old Is Youth.

Three of their teams - the U11s, U14s and U15s - have made it through to the last 16 of the County Cup in their respective age groups.

Chairman Mike Molyneux said: "It's a terrific achievement for a club of our size."

The U11s, coached by former Brentford star Andy Myers, are having a fine season, while the U14s are top of their league and form the core of the district side.

They are all in cup action this Sunday, bidding to make the quarter-finals. The U14s are at home, while the U11s and U15s have away ties.

The lads will be dusting off their boots after most of Old Is' 11-a-side games have bitten the dust in recent weeks due to the weather.
