From Wealdstone to wonder boy in three easy steps is the reward for £5million Britt Assombalonga.

No surprises for guessing his nomination as the man Fulham should fear most by Paul Taylor at the Nottingham Evening Post, when the two clubs clash this evening at the City Ground.

The striker has raced to five goals in six games for his new club, and Forest’s record summer signing has averaged just about a goal every two games three years running since he hit six for Stones in 11 outings on loan from Watford in 2011-12.

'Rough diamond': Michail Antonio

Another loan to Southend the season after that was instrumental in getting the Seasiders to the League Two play-offs and a Johnstone's Paint Trophy final appearance at Wembley.

He scored 33 in all competitions for Peterborough last season; hit the ground running with Forest following the switch, and the hefty price tag appears like a bargain bearing in mind the £11m paid by the Whites for Ross McCormack.

Michail Antonio is another who has set pulses racing around the Forest faithful as well as inching hapless opponents closer to heart attacks.

The pacy winger from Wandsworth can switch from side to side, although he is something of  a’ rough diamond’, according to Taylor.

“He can be brilliant one moment, and awful the next,” said the Post man. “But he’s big and powerful and scored four already.”

The thick of it: Henri Lansbury (L) in action against Derby John Eustace

There’s not many who could be described as ‘Paul Scholesesque” but Henri Lansbury fits the bill, it seems.

“He’s adapted into a number 10,” explained Taylor, “and plays off Assombalonga’s shoulder when not tracking back."

Forest fought off Burnley for the former Arsenal player’s services, with Lansbury earning a new contract although he started the season with a knee injury.

Hero: Stuart Pearce

However, his return sees him like the other two on the goal trail with two in three since rejoining Hammersmith born Stuart Pearce’s side.

And where did the west Londoner start to see his career take off? At Wealdstone. Assombalonga was following the master, you might say.
