NORWICH City are trying to hijack QPR's move for Celtic striker Gary Hooper .

Rangers looked favourites to land the former Scunthorpe frontman after having a £5million bid accepted last night, only for the Canaries to match their offer for the 25-year-old.

Harry Redknapp was confident of getting a deal for Hooper over the line, but the move is now in doubt after the Canaries were granted permission to talk to the Harlow-born hitman.

The forward has smashed 82 goals in three years for the Scottish champions but is desperate to return to England after quitting Scunthorpe for Parkhead in 2010.
