NORTH Greenford United have made reserve team manager Paul Palmer their new boss following Saturday's departure of Neil Shipperley.

He takes charge for the first time tomorrow night (Tuesday) against Uxbridge.

Barry Morris, who has worked as Palmer's assistant, takes on the role of reserve team manager.

The Southern League Division One club today issued a statement thanking Shipperley for his efforts, as well as assistant manager Matt Penford, who also stepped down in the wake of a 4-1 defeat at Dunstable Town at the weekend.

The statement reads: “All at North Greenford – committee members, supporters and players – would like to formally record their thanks to Neil who, during his two spells as first team manager, ably supported throughout that time by Matt, has successfully ensured the club’s Step Four survival, twice steering the club away from the relegation places.

“This was a remarkable achievement in the circumstances, given that the task of managing a small club like ours at this level, with limited resources, is difficult, challenging and often frustrating.

“We recognise with gratitude the significant contribution that Neil and Matt have made to North Greenford United and we wish them both every success in their future managerial careers.”
