Harrow Borough’s trip to Enfield Town might have been postponed on Tuesday - but there will be no night off for Dave Anderson’s men.

The Reds manager was busy working on a contingency plan on Monday morning in anticipation of a postponement at Donkey Lane this evening.

With no Ryman Premier action able to take place, Anderson is planning on holding a training session tonight to keep the fitness levels up in his Harrow squad.

“You have to try and prepare as if you want to play at all times but it’s difficult,” Anderson said. “As a manager, your workload becomes more. When the game was postponed on Saturday I had to rush around and arrange a friendly with Hemel. For tonight, I was working in advance to get a 3G pitch to train on just in case the game was called off.

“It’s that time of the year again and we’ll end up playing three times a week again like we did last season. When you play that often it becomes a lottery because you pick up injuries, players are getting fatigued and some can’t play due to work commitments.”

Anderson is an advocate of 3G pitches but is reluctant to push for Boro to play on an artificial surface while doing so still makes a team ineligible for the FA Cup.

“The FA need to get into the 21st century,” he added. “I know some people would rather play on grass but you’ve got to get the games played. Some people say it’s unfair but I don’t get that because most teams train on artificial surfaces anyway. I think eventually it has to become an option and you should be able to play in everything, including the FA Cup.”
