John Terry has revealed there have been no contract talks between him and Chelsea, despite the Blues captain being only a few months away from his present deal.

The defender's existing contract expires at the end of the season, opening up the prospect of an end to his glittering Chelsea career, as was the case with former team mate Frank Lampard last year.

But with the 34-year-old still a mainstay of the Chelsea team , and providing the key cross for Blues goal in their Champions League match at Paris Saint-Germain on Tuesday night, fans will be concerned about the lack of dialogue over his future.

Asked if there had been any contract talks, he said: “No. the club know my position. Hopefully I know theirs and it will get done.

“No talks have happened yet between myself and the club. I think we both respect the position - there are a lot more important players.

“Hazard has just been done and for me, that's the most important for the club. Without them even telling me, I know that's the first priority for them. Hopefully, they will be knocking on the door soon.”

Last season, the Lampard situation endured to the very end – it not being clear about his departure from Chelsea until after the final game had been played.

Asked if he hoped to get his contracted sorted in May, Terry said: “I think so. In the first year, I was maybe a little bit nervous. I was edgy, hoping and knocking myself.

“We have had a good chat. I know their position, they know mine. I want to stay. Hopefully my performances are showing that and they can keep me.

“I will be happy to get one more year and then see how it goes. I am taking it year by year - I haven't got much choice!”
