You can never quite be sure what sort of team you will see during a pre-season friendly.

Managers often make wholesale changes at half-time in an attempt to see as many players as possible.

And with Mauricio Pellegrino new to the job at Southampton, he could be forgiven for doing just that.

But the Argentinian has vowed to play a strong side against Brentford tomorrow, for an hour at least anyway.

The new boss told the club's official website: "Little by little, we'll be increasing minutes in the players.

"I will leave the majority of them [on the pitch] more or less for 60 to 70 minutes, depending on the time they've been working with us.

"I'll change some players, but i have to increase the minutes of the players that have been with us from the start."

There will be some young Saints players involved too, though.

Pellegrino added: "The young players are helping us to prepare for every training session with more quality."
