New signing Thomas Eisfeld is desperate to emulate the impact Fulham's youngsters had on the first team last season.

Eisfeld penned a two-year contract at Craven Cottage yesterday and has an option to extend his stay by a further 12 months.

The highly-rated German scored 14 goals for Arsenal's U21s but is now hoping to replicate the step-up to senior football enjoyed by the likes of Chris David, Cauley Woodrow and Patrick Roberts.

He said: “I want to establish myself, and we have already seen a number of young players do that here.

“If you're looking at the club from the outside as a player looking to push on, then that's great to see. I need to make sure I take my opportunity.”

Eisfeld joined the Gunners in January 2012 after seven years at Bourussia Dortmund.

He says the opportunity to link with compatriot Felix Magath was influential when choosing to sign for the Cottagers.

He added: “The manager was a factor, I wanted to work with him.

“We've spoken a lot and I'm excited by the challenge that's in place at Fulham. He expects me to deliver, and I want to repay the faith that has been shown in me.

“Felix Magath is a fantastic manager and there are some really good players in the squad. I just can’t wait to pull on the shirt for the first time.

“What I can promise the fans is that I will always give my best for the club.”

The 21-year-old was speaking to the club's official website at Fulham's Motspur Park training ground prior to linking up with the manager and his new team-mates in the United States.

“I actually scored at Motspur Park last season when Arsenal's Under-21s played Fulham's Under-21s. I was really impressed by the club's young players then.

“It's a young team here at Fulham, but these players can make the step up. As a group, we need to work as hard as we can, and push the team forward together.”
